Education in a Diverse and Complex World

Diversity is a cornerstone of a pluralistic society. Contemporary educational processes must foster opportunities for learning and participation that accommodate the individual abilities and needs of all people. To achieve this, it is essential to consider the various dimensions of diversity and their intersectional interplay within the complex dynamic between difference and equality. This requires a multi-perspective approach that breaks down categorisations and dichotomies as well as processes of social negotiation. Similar challenges arise when examining the impact of global developments on education. In light of the major global challenges of our time, questions of factual and ethical complexity and controversy are becoming increasingly prominent. 

The 2025 Annual Congress of the Swiss Society for Research in Education (SSRE) and the Swiss Society for Teacher Education (SGL) will focus on new approaches emerging from research in education and teacher training.
