Abstract
The preconference consists of two parts. In the first part, participants present their thesis projects (or individual papers) in round-table discussions. These round tables are scheduled to last 90 minutes and consist of panels grouped by theme. All speakers will give a 5-minute presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session and discussion. Three or four speakers will successively present and discuss their research work.
The second part of the preconference will be devoted to presenting and discussing the Memorandum of Understanding of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) and its importance for scientific careers.
The aim of this preconference is to help doctoral students write their thesis and give them the tools to plan their career.
Target group | Doctoral students from Swiss tertiary institutions |
Type of event | Round tables as well as plenary presentations and discussions |
Prerequisites
To prepare for the round tables, an abstract must be submitted two months before the event. It must contain:
- A title of no more than 100 characters (including spaces).
- A brief summary of 100 to 250 words.
- A detailed abstract of 700 to 1200 words (excluding bibliographical references) describing the theoretical framework, research objectives/questions, methodology and results. The abstract is also used to group the themes.
For the preconference, an adapted abstract can be provided as a handout for the round tables.
